Everything stays on your device

Nothing you type is uploaded — the quote and PDF are generated right in your browser. Double-check quantities and rates before sending; Sales Tax here is applied to the marked-up total.

Tip: keep a running quote number sequence and a clear validity period. Listing your items in clear sections makes it easy to see where the cost goes.

Questions & answers

Everything you need to understand the solar quote builder.

What does the Solar Quote Builder do?

It turns your equipment and labor into a priced, professional solar quote. List the panels, inverter, battery, mounting and installation work, set a markup and Tax/VAT rate, and it works out the subtotal, markup, Tax/VAT and total — then lets you download a branded PDF to send to the client.

How is the total worked out?

Each line is quantity × unit price. Equipment and labor are added to a subtotal, your markup percentage is added on top, and Tax/VAT is applied to the marked-up figure. So an R66,100 subtotal with 15% markup (R9,915) and 15% Tax/VAT (R11,402.25) comes to R87,417.25.

What should I list as equipment versus labor?

Put physical supply under Equipment — panels, inverter, battery, mounting rails, cabling and protection — and your time and services under Labour, such as installation, commissioning and the electrical certificate of compliance. Splitting them makes the quote clear and easy to adjust.

Can I set my own currency and Tax/VAT rate?

Yes. The currency symbol, markup and Tax/VAT are all editable, so the tool works wherever you install. If you’re not registered for Tax/VAT, set the Tax/VAT rate to 0 and it drops out of the quote.

Can I add my company logo?

Yes. Upload a PNG or JPG logo and it appears top-left of the PDF, above your business details. It’s read on your device and embedded straight into the file — never uploaded to a server.

Is my quote data uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything you type stays in your browser and the PDF is generated on your own device — nothing is sent to a server. It also works offline once the page has loaded.
